What are you thankful for?

“This right here is what it’s all about… friends, family,” our friend Matthew shared right after taking a big bite of turkey leg.

As many of us ate around a large table together in the warm and beautiful Turner home for an early Thanksgiving, we shared about what we love about this holiday and about all we are thankful for.

Turkey, pumpkin pie, and stuffing to name a few… or dressing, as our friend Jeanette calls it. Most talked about their love for their family, this time together with friends, and the gratitude they had for waking up to another day.

Just a few feet away from our table was the kitchen where others gathered to get seconds, more sweet tea or a taste of pecan or pumpkin pie.

Walking from the kitchen into the living room were others introducing themselves to one another for the first time or sitting on couches as they watched the football game or wishing a few of our friends a happy birthday as they ate their birthday cake. And right outside were even more enjoying the sun and the company and the happy kids running around.

We got to celebrate birthdays, honor our friends who are veterans, eat delicious food, talk about what we're thankful for, and be together in a warm home.

“I’ve got a lot to be thankful for, but this is what I’m thankful for right now,” Matthew said looking around at everyone at our large table.

We all have a lot to be thankful for, but like Matthew, Brown, Willie and so many others, we can’t miss out on what’s right now—the miracle of breath, friendship, and eating good food together.

Happy Thanksgiving from all of us to you! We are thankful for you. To hear what Matthew, Brown, Willie and others share about what they are thankful for, check out our video below…

Thank you to the Turners for opening their home, to Highland Park Presbyterian for all the food, and to Chandler Burden for bringing us all together!
